Oh dear it is nearly the end of February 2015 and I have just posted Christmas presents. My besty lives on the other side of the huge island that I live on (Australia) and we only see each other every 2 years or so. She has supported me in hard times and laughed with me at many others. So here is what I made for her for Christmas, 2014 that is!
Sue and her family have a holiday house down on the southern edge of Western Australia overlooking the majestic southern ocean. I hope these cushions will be snuggled into on winter evenings with the fire roaring.
I hand stitched the 2 inch hexagons (paper pieced) with linen thread and stitched them with the seam on the outside for added texture and to add to the ‘japanese’ feel to compliment the indigo range of fabric (by Moda). I used shell buttons on the closure.
note: the pinwheel cushion was created using the Lil’ Twister pinwheel ruler by Country Schoolhouse and available at fabric patch.com.au (another unsolicited ad for where I work)
ps: this post is soooo late that Sue has received her cushions!!!!! x
