Stitched together with love – its what holds us together
Just as a thread stitches through fabrics to create a beautiful new quilt, or mends a hole in a favourite pair of jeans, love stitches us together. It can sometimes break or knot up just like a thread but stitches of love can repair even the most broken heart.
My family thread of love was broken late last year when my Mum died suddenly, unexpectedly. Her many years of stitching her family together with unlimited love has kept her vibrant memory alive for us all.
My niece had this fabulous ‘nanifesto’ printed for each member of the family and we received it on Mums birthday this year. Words of wisdom from a very wise woman. Mum loved to cook, so the only appropriate place for me, was to hang it in my kitchen.
I was stitching a table runner for Mum for Christmas when she died. I chose her favourite colours, of the sea, and stars for her Christmas table. I was keeping it for a surprise so she never saw it. I continued to work on it and finished it for her for Christmas and gave it to Dad who proudly displays it on the dining table, everyday.
I am currently working on writing up a pattern for Mum’s table runner, maybe I will call it Sea Stars? don’t know yet, what do you think?
So here I am, back in the blogging world, ready to stitch together my family and friends with love, and of course stitching some fabulous fabrics together to create quilts to dream under, some lovely bits and bobs for your home, new books I love and some old favourites.
ps I also have a new stitching buddy
